The Communication Connection®




The Communication Connection® is a full service speech and language pathology practice. In addition to individual therapy, the Communication Connection® offers a variety of unique classes.

SERVICES:


What We Do
Simply put, Communication Connection is a full service Speech Language Pathology practice with the capacity to create engaging and effective learning environments. Group classes are ideal to enhance development and reduce/prevent problems. Because of the group setting, classes are a fraction of traditional private therapy costs. 



INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
ONE ON ONE speech therapy for children and adults. Stroke recovery, accent reduction, articulation, fluency, stutter, and voice.  References are available upon request.

The Communication Connection is a State of California certified nonpublic agency and has contracted with The Los Angeles School District (LAUSD) and the Gorman Elementary School District to provide Speech Services. The funding for these services are provided by the District. Eligibility is determined by the school district as indicated on the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS


CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
Nursery/kindergarten School Pragmatic Language Skills. This six session course is taught in the nursery or kindergarten school class. Each week a new skill is dynamically presented to the children. We use puppets, song and demonstrations in this interactive class. The children have a great time practicing their new language skills. Skills include: turn taking, eye contact, 

appropriate volume, and much more. The parent and teacher feedback has been wonderful. We will be happy to provide references.

Parent & Me Class Exploring Language Development Through Song & Play. This course aids parents of young children gain information and skills to help facilitate and enhance their child's communication skills. For adults and their children ages six months to three years. The six month course teaches parents to model good communication skills to their children in the areas of: articulation, vocabulary, fluency, voice, pragmatic language skills, general language and cognitive development. Incorporates language development activities using song and play in a natural environment. The six month course will foster long term friendships with other children. However, the six month course is divided into discrete eight week segments. $120.00 per 8 week segment. Call about our early enrollment discount.

The class meets on Tuesdays

Ages 6 months - 18 months; 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Ages 18 months - 3 Years; 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Courses for children can be customized to fit the needs of the group.

CLASSES FOR ADULTS
Aerobic Instructors Vocal Abuse Prevention Techniques. Employees will learn to provide cues to their classes without injuring their voices.

Accent Reduction Course. Perfect for multicultural agency/corporate settings. Employees will learn to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.

Pre-School Educators Pragmatic Language Skills. This lively seminar provides educators with the tools to bring fun activities and song to increase pragmatic language skills to the class. The course weaves language theory with plenty of demonstrations and group tips.



Who We Are
Instructor, Karin Howard MA/CCC is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. Karin has provided services in a multitude of settings and client populations. Settings include private practice, hospitals, outpatient, and day centers. Client populations vary from mild to severe issues revolving around: stroke, blindness, stuttering, fluency, vocal abuse, developmental disabilities, larnengectomy, accent reduction, autism, and articulation. CA license #SP8114. Karin attended the University of California at Santa Barbara as an undergraduate and completed her Masters at California State University at Northridge.
